Jeanne and Mike Say "Hello"
We
are Jeanne and Mike, and we live in Minnesota. Mike worked many years in
radio broadcasting (on-air talent and teaching) and has recently enjoyed running
a successful small toy company. Jeanne has had a long career as an executive assistant
for corporations and major non-profits in the Twin Cities. Our dream was to be
able to combine our talents and work together to do something we were passionate
about. In 2001, after years of searching out high quality, north woods themed
products and décor for our own home, we decided to start a retail business, offering
our treasured finds to consumers. And today, we're happy to offer you NorthwoodsHome.com
to make your shopping experience even more convenient and satisfying.
One of our favorite past-times is traveling (whenever possible, by motorcycle). We love riding through the countryside, always remembering "it's not the destination, but the journey" that's most fulfilling. Our fondest memories are visits to quaint towns, main street cafés, ice cream, bake and gift shops and bed & breakfast inns. We enjoy reading, photography, camping, hiking underneath a canopy of brilliant fall leaf color and relaxing along Minnesota's beautiful Lake Superior shore. But, we find ourselves particularly drawn to cozy retreats in north woods settings. It's when we add a mountain range, a body of water, pine trees and a wildlife sighting that we feel most content. Our friends and family, who know us best, understand that if we had our way, we'd escape to a log cabin deep in the woods because that's where we feel most at home. We'd be snuggled under a soft blanket together with our miniature pinscher "Kelly" in front of a warm, cozy fireplace. We'd love nothing better than to have a good book close by, a cup of hot chocolate and the opportunity to steal a glimpse of a moose, wolf or bear outside the window.
So, now you know a little about what makes us tick. Anyway you name it, we just love this neat Up North, Cabin or North Woodsy "stuff" and are excited to be able to share it with you. We pride ourselves on having good taste when it comes to selecting the items to offer our retail and online customers. If we wouldn't want it in our own home, we don't carry it.
